Why pay me $15/mo when you could go somewhere else and pay $8/mo?

• Because I cater to those folks who don’t know, don’t want to know, or don’t care to figure out how to get their web site on the Internet.
• If you maximize your time doing what you do best, then whatever time you spend trying to figure out something else, is taking you away from your strengths.

So besides the above, what do I get for my monthly fee?

• Well, think of me as your personal IT and Marketing consultant. I not only want to help you get on the Internet, but I will also advise you with any other questions you may have.
• Also, I have your personal interests in mind. I want to help you succeed in whatever venture you may be persuing.

Do you own the servers that my site will be hosted on?

• No. I stopped buying and maintaining servers years ago as that was not one of my strengths.
• There are lots of other geeks out there who do it bigger, better and faster… And so what I do is just buy a horde of server space from the best geeks and then help you set up and maintain your site with it.
• Just like Costco, because I buy in bulk, I get the server space for a bit cheaper than everyone else. I add a small fee to that, to account for my time, and the $15, $25, and $50 hosting plans are what you get in return.

So who do you buy your server space from?

• Hostgator.com
• These guys are located in Texas and they are the best geeks around. If you do a Google search for best web site hosting companies, you will find list after list that ranks them in the top 5.
• Lastly, they are a GREEN company. They are using wind farms in Texas to run their server farms.

So why shouldn’t I just go direct to a hosting company like Hostgator.com?

• By all means, if you have the time and know how, then cut me out of the picture! You really don’t need me.

Do you need a database to track something? Filemaker Pro is an extremely easy, full featured database program that anybody can learn and use. It is easier to use than Excel, as powerful as SQL, and has the elegance of any Apple product you can think of… Oh ya, maybe that’s because Filemaker is a subsidiary of Apple.

Buidling Permit Database
These databases track all data needed for issuing of building permits within a city government or organization. Including the routing of plans from department to department, all correspondence with the applicant/contractor, as well as the fees that need to be calculated and collected.

Environmental Database
These databases track data needed to comply with a state mandated National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program. There are four components to this database that include: 1. Tracking inspections for commercial/industrial sites, 2. Tracking public education opportunities, 3. Tracking staff training, 4. Tracking Best Management Practices (BMP) for all new and existing construction. This database is also available online using Filemaker’s Instant Web Publishing features and a Mac Mini for web hosting.

Before and After
The Aliso Viejo examples above show a permit database that was created years ago without my help. After I got my hands on it for a couple hours, the database was much easier to use, graphically and programming wise, and the user interface was dramatically improved to make it easy on the eyes.
